Qualifications & Experience

  • Matric.
  • Relevant Transport or Logistics Diploma / Degree.
  • Minimum of two years working experience in the Transport and Logistics environment.
  • Previous exposure to Container Transport both Operational and Administrative.
  • Proficient in MS Office Excel, Word, Outlook.
  • Previous work experience on Transport Systems.
  • Valid driver’s licence.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Organising
  • Ensure data is captured timely and systems are up to date.
  • Prioritise work and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Control documentation flow between clients, suppliers, operations, support services, and admin.
  • Resolve queries with the operations function.
  • Assist in preparing and analyzing reports on KZN Container Operations performance.
  • Prepare for audits and support general ops-admin duties as requested.
Operations Control
  • Plan daily and weekly operations for efficiency.
  • Document shift plans covering all current work, prioritizing as needed.
  • Ensure resources like drivers, vehicles, trailers, and equipment are in place.
  • Organize documentation and system appointments per shift plan.
  • Conduct daily start-of-shift meetings and communicate plans with drivers.
  • Gather feedback from drivers and update managers.
  • Ensure vehicle checklists are completed and address issues.
  • Brief drivers on work requirements and monitor during execution.
  • Handle deviations and modify plans accordingly.
  • Maintain communication with all stakeholders for smooth operations.
  • Attend to vehicle maintenance, breakdowns, incidents, and accidents following policies.
  • Conduct driver debriefings, verify documentation, and report issues.
  • Update vessel trackers, schedules, and shift planners.
  • Manage vessel availability and container statuses on TPT systems.
  • Schedule Navis appointments for containers.
  • Prepare staff shift rosters and track leave and driving hours.
  • Process allowances and incentives, and manage subcontracting to meet SLAs and KPIs.
