A leading technology company in SA seeks a Transmission Assurance Specialist to enhance network integrity. This role demands expertise in Transmission systems and experience in telecoms. You will be crucial in resolving failures, overseeing integration of new links, and improving system quality across various teams.
Role title: Transmission Assurance Specialist
Location: Umhlanga, KZN
Duration: 12 months
Role purpose:
-To provide Transmission Service Assurance support for transport network architecture from core to access domains.
As a Specialist TX Assurance your main responsibilities will involve:
-Assisting to resolve P1 to P4 failures by engaging with high level support and ATNE to correct these failures as they appear within specified timelines in core, edge & access domain
-Engage with support teams to correct hardware failures and alarms in the transport domain to ensureand improve network quality
-Applying quality checks on new transport infrastructure against specifications and guidelines
-Assist / manage integration of new links and upgrades
Key accountabilities
-To provide transmission assurance support to Operations, NMG, CBU, EBU & ATNE for TX Core, Edge and Access infrastructure
-To provide transmission assurance support to TX planning, TX Fulfilment, Ops Support and the Counties for Core, Edge and Access infrastructure
-To provide transmission assurance support to & from Field Force Outsource for Edge and Access infrastructure
-To take ownership for TX Network Performanceand to restoral P1 to P4 failures by correcting alarms and hardware
-To use reports from OSS platforms to identify issues and failures that need corrective action
Core competencies, knowledge & experience
-3 - 5 years’ work experience in telecoms industry specific to Transmission Assurance (Maintenance)and Transmission Systems
-Expert knowledge & experience in the Microwave, Fiber, Router, Synchronisation and Switches technologies specific to Nokia, Infinera/Tellabs/Coriant, Nera, SIAE, Hughes, Radwin, Symmetricom, Nokia and application thereof
-TDM, ATM, PDH, SDH, C/W/DWDM, IP/MPLS, MEF, TX architecture, IP & TX Protocols knowledge and application
-IP experience in Layer 1 to 4 of OSI stack and Standards in IEEE, ITU, MEF, Optical,radio frequency
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
-3yr Degree/National Diploma related to engineering field of study (minimum)
-3-5 years’ work experience in telecoms industry specific to Transmission implementation planning and Transmission Systems
