Job summary

Forvis Mazars in South Africa seeks an experienced Transfer Pricing specialist to independently lead TP assignments in Johannesburg or Cape Town offices. You will liaise with clients, perform advanced analyses and deliver compliant TP reports and opinions.

Role requires 3–5 years of client-facing TP experience, strong knowledge of OECD guidelines and SA TP rules, and proven leadership and business development capabilities.

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting, law or economics with a postgraduate tax qualification.
• 3–5 years of client-facing tax consulting experience, with emphasis on transfer pricing.

Job description

An opportunity exists in the Tax Advisory Division of Forvis Mazars; an international professional services firm, with numerous offices across South Africa with the role to be based in our Johannesburg or Cape Town offices.

Purposes of the job:

To independently attend to and lead transfer pricing assignments, carry out research relating to a variety of tax and other related issues (covering the full spectrum of transfer pricing) and to compile appropriate reports/opinions/letters and other documents. To review reports/opinions/letters and documents prepared by other tax advisors/clients and to liaise with clients, their advisors and SARS where appropriate.

• Lead and oversee the preparation, review, and delivery of detailed transfer pricing studies aligned with global compliance requirements
• Design and strategize robust transfer pricing policies while delivering diverse and forward-thinking advisory solutions to multinational clients
• Conduct advanced analysis leveraging economic, financial, and industry data to inform strategic recommendations and identify risk mitigation opportunities
• Drive client discovery through high-level functional analysis interviews, translating nuanced operational insights into actionable transfer pricing frameworks
• Manage and mentor cross-functional teams and direct reports, ensuring project excellence and professional development
• Cultivate client partnerships by managing key relationships and driving business development efforts across industries and geographies
• Champion strategic initiatives internally and externally to align with evolving tax regulations and enhance firm capabilities
• Deliver UCX (Unparalleled Client Experience) by embedding quality, responsiveness, and innovation in every engagement

Candidate requirements:

• Accounting/Legal/Economics degree plus post graduate tax qualification
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ specific tax consulting experience as a client- facing Tax Consultant in a professional services environment
• Minimum of 3 years’ transfer pricing experience is essential
• Sound knowledge of OECD transfer pricing guidelines as well as South African transfer pricing regulations and guidance
• Good business developer with a good network within the transfer pricing sector in South Africa
• Proven ability to manage people and clients
• Excellent computer skills (MS Office package)
• Familiarity with relevant software to perform comparable searches
• Excellent writing and reporting skills
