Job description

Bidvest Protea Coin is seeking a qualified Training Instructor to be based in Gijima to join our Training Division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering both theoretical and practical firearm training and ensuring compliance with all relevant training standards and legislation.

The suitable candidate’s main responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Deliver theoretical and practical firearm training sessions.
  2. Manage training administration and maintain accurate training records.
  3. Facilitate training programs accredited by SAPFTC, SASSETA, PSIRA, and in-house courses.
  4. Promote discipline and professionalism among BPC Security Officers.
  5. Ensure all training interventions comply with legal and regulatory requirements.

Preferred qualifications/attributes/skills:

  1. Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
  2. Registered with PSIRA.
  3. Competencies in:
  • 123520 – Supervise firearm training
  • 123516 – Supervise shooting exercises
  • 115753 – Conduct Outcome Based Assessments
  • 116483 – Apply moral decision making and problem solving
  • 11870 – Conduct targeted training and development using methodologies
  1. Optional certifications:
  • Grade A PSIRA Instructor
  • SASSETA registered assessor and moderator
  • SAPFTC registered firearm instructor and assessor for Handgun, Self-loading Rifle, and Shotgun
  • Tactical Firearm Instructor (advantageous)
  • Registered National Key Point Instructor
  1. Valid SAPS competency certificates for Handgun, Self-loading Rifle, and Shotgun.
  2. Experience in Crowd Management training is a plus.
  3. Sound knowledge of relevant firearm and security legislation.
  4. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a security training role (optional).
  5. Own a vehicle with a valid driver’s license and Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
  6. Clean criminal and disciplinary record.
  7. Strong teamwork skills and flexibility to work weekends or extended hours when needed.
  8. Residency near the training center is preferred.
