Job summary

A leading independent lubricant producer in Meyerton is seeking a Trainee Laboratory Manager / Laboratory Technician to join their dynamic team. This role requires a B.Sc. or BTech in Chemistry and 3–5 years of experience in a lubricants lab environment. Key responsibilities include testing, staff oversight, and maintaining lab safety and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office and lab management software.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in a petroleum / lubricants lab environment with proven testing experience.
  • Strong interpersonal & communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with tribology and customer support tasks.

Trainee Laboratory Manager / Laboratory Technician - Meyerton (Gauteng)

An independent lubricant producer and waste oil re-refinery in Meyerton, Gauteng, is seeking a skilled professional (Laboratory Technician) to join their fast-moving production plant.

Skills and requirements :

B.Sc. or BTech in Chemistry.

3–5 years in a petroleum / lubricants lab environment with proven testing experience.

Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Microsoft Office and Windows proficiency.

Ability to manage teams and work independently.

Ability to work under pressure

Familiarity with tribology, Sage Evolution BOM, Bartender Label Designer, and customer support.

Key Responsibilities :

Conduct and oversee testing for production, R&D, and client samples.

Oversee staff performance and ensure safety, quality, and compliance.

Maintain and calibrate lab equipment; manage consumables and flammable materials.

Lead improvements in lab processes, SOPs, and documentation systems.

Handle SDS, TDS, and COA creation and updates for produced and supplied products.

Manage retention samples, labeling systems, and BOM database updates.

Deliver reports and technical support to internal departments and clients.
