Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Trailer Technician.
• Experience with semi-trailers and drawbar trailers.
• Code 8 driver’s licence; Code 14 licence advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Inspect trailers to identify defects, wear and tear, safety risks and compliance issues.
• Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal trailer performance.
• Repair and replace brakes, axles, bearings, suspension systems, couplings and other trailer components.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults, including trailer lighting, wiring and braking systems.
• Maintain accurate records of all inspections, servicing, maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with relevant safety standards, legal requirements and company procedures.
• Attend to roadside breakdowns and follow up on repairs to ensure trailers are returned to service as quickly as possible.
• Identify potential faults and recommend appropriate, cost-effective repair solutions.
• Minimise trailer downtime by completing maintenance and repairs efficiently and effectively.

Requirements of the Job

Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

• Proven experience as a Trailer Technician.
• Experience working with trucks and trailers, particularly semi-trailers and drawbar trailers.
• Experience within the fuel industry will be highly advantageous.
• Valid Code 8 driver's licence; a Code 14 driver's licence will be an advantage.
• Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Good understanding of trailer maintenance, braking systems, suspension components, electrical systems and roadworthiness requirements.
• Ability to identify cost-effective repair solutions and minimise operational downtime.
