About SMD Technologies

Are you ready to join the fastest growing developer of brands in South Africa?

With hundreds of consumer brands from Volkano, Sony, Rocka, Eiger, and more, SMD Technologies is home to huge audio brands and an incredible staff. We have a young, vibrant office space, with plenty of staff perks and the best coffee in South Africa, all designed to make you love working here.

About the Role

We're seeking a tough, no-nonsense Traffic Manager to organize our workflow.

This is not a project administrator role — it's a leadership position for someone who values structure, thrives under pressure, and takes pride in keeping operations smooth. You will act as the link between design, marketing, and production — ensuring briefs are clear, timelines are realistic yet tight, and everyone is contributing effectively.

You will follow up diligently, follow through on tasks, and actively chase progress when issues arise. If you're proactive, outspoken, and detail-oriented, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage the flow of work between studio and marketing departments, ensuring nothing is lost, delayed, or duplicated.
  2. Own the schedule: create timelines, allocate resources, and clarify expectations for each team member.
  3. Monitor project timelines and proactively flag delays to prevent last-minute surprises.
  4. Follow up with stakeholders to resolve blockers and clarify work requirements.
  5. Collaborate with team leads to prioritize tasks, triage requests, and adjust deadlines when necessary.
  6. Maintain clear briefing processes and hold teams accountable for delivery.
  7. Oversee all incoming and outgoing work, from campaign launches to packaging deadlines.
  8. Remain calm under pressure and assertive when addressing chaos or delays.
Requirements
  • 3+ years' experience in traffic or project management within an agency, studio, or marketing environment.
  • A proactive, firm, and accountable attitude — comfortable chasing progress and escalating issues.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to identify gaps and ensure smooth operations.
  • Experience managing timelines across multiple departments, especially creative and marketing teams.
  • Ability to read team dynamics and know when to push or support.
  • Strong communication skills — clear, confident, and concise.
  • Experience with traffic or project management tools like Trello, Asana, or similar.
  • Ability to maintain composure and stamina in a fast-paced environment.
Personal Attributes
  • Proactive in seeking information and clarifications.
  • Persistent in clarifying vague details.
  • Respectful and fair with team members, maintaining control and professionalism.
