Job summary

KPMG South Africa in Johannesburg seeks a junior Trade & Customs Consultant to provide trade and customs consulting and support services. You will assist with customs compliance, interact with SARS and other stakeholders, and draft deliverables for review.

The role requires 1–3 years in audit, law or consulting, and a strong academic background with a BCom, LLB or HDip (Tax) or related degrees. Strong communication and time management are essential.

Qualifications

  • Background in audit, law or consulting is required.
  • Audit or accounting background is advantageous.
  • No specialised customs and excise knowledge required.

Responsibilities

  • Proficient in use of technology, technology platforms and AI.
  • Assist with customs compliance assistance to clients on eFiling.
  • Interact with internal business units, external clients and government agencies such as SARS.
  • Drafting emails, responses and initial deliverables in the appropriate formats for review.
  • Assist with KPMG risk related matters, client acceptance procedures, filing requirements and invoicing.
  • Build credibility and relationships with colleagues across service lines, clients and government agencies.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal and written).
  • Actively participate in training and ask questions to achieve personal and work goals.
  • Assist with the research and preparation of proposals.
