My client, a well-established concern in the Export / Agricultural industry, is seeking to employ an Accountant.
The successful candidate will have a BComm (Accounting, Finance, or related field) and a minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience. Experience in agriculture or exports is advantageous.
Responsibilities:
- Recordkeeping and reconciliation of all trade-related transactions
- Monitoring of cost of sales, including farmer payments, packaging, and logistics costs
- Managing inventory movement and valuation
- Preparing profit and loss statements per shipment, customer, and product
Financial Control
- Recordkeeping and reconciliation of all trade-related transactions

Procurement & Farmer Payments
- Processing farmer contracts and invoices
- Monitoring delivery volumes, quality, and price adjustments
- Ensuring timely and accurate payments to suppliers
Export & Logistics Accounting
- Recordkeeping of export sales, currency differences, and shipping costs
- Reconciling farmer contracts with FECs issued
- Reconciling export documentation with financial records
- Collaborating with logistics and operations teams for accurate financial processing
Reporting & Analysis
- Preparation of monthly margin reports and variance analysis
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
- Preparation for audits and compliance with regulatory requirements
Systems & Process Improvement
- Maintenance and optimization of ERP systems
- Development and documentation of internal controls and procedures
Qualifications and Experience:
- Accounting qualification with SAICA / CIMA articles
- Honours degree is advantageous
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in finance/accounting, preferably in agriculture or export
- Strong knowledge of cost and inventory accounting, as well as currency transactions
- Knowledge of export regulations is an advantage
