Job description

Our passenger vehicle dealerships currently hold a vacancy for a Service Manager.
Reporting to the Dealer Principal, this position will be suited to a person who will be able to ensure that the Dealership makes profits and maintains good customer relationships.

Specific Role Responsibilities

  1. Ensure that the department achieves budget objectives by continual examination of operating controls.
  2. Operate the department efficiently.
  3. Ensure accurate invoicing and job costing.
  4. Maintain effective control of expenses in line with budget objectives.
  5. Monitor the effective use of labour by maintaining workshop productivity records.
  6. Ensure that all outstanding debts are collected expeditiously.
  7. Ensure that all materials purchased are controlled and sold at a profit.
  8. Review all pricing policies, labour rates, fleet discounts, parts pricing, and all other Company and Factory Policies.
  9. Monitor workshop productive performance by total and individual Technician.
  10. Monitor all warranty claim submissions and requisite credits, and take action as required.
  11. Improve the quality of Customer Service and Retention by enhanced facilities, improved Technician skills, effective marketing, and staff training.
  12. Ensure high standards of quality workmanship.
  13. Maintain records of Customer complaints and/or congratulations for use and action as required.
  14. Oversee warranty and goodwill cases.
  15. Establish training needs, plan programmes, and maintain records of training and costs thereof.
  16. Operate staff appraisal systems and ensure that action is taken on results thereof.
  17. Conduct monthly service staff meetings.
  18. Ensure that all clerical functions within the department are carried out in accordance with policies.
  19. Review with Dealer Principal all departmental activities and reporting structures.
  20. Ensure that premises, equipment, and other assets are controlled and used effectively.
  21. Establish adequate safety and security procedures to protect property and personnel.
  22. Check all workshop equipment for condition and accuracy of diagnosis.
  23. Open and close premises.
  24. Perform any other reasonable duties which may be required.
  25. Promote Kaizen in all aspects of the service operation.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Must have a minimum of Grade 12.
  2. Managerial experience in a Service Department is essential.
  3. Preference will be given to candidates with Service Technician Qualification.
  4. Must have Toyota training.
  5. Must have a valid driver’s license.
  6. Must have a clear Criminal Record.
