Job summary

Fouche & Co Recruitment is seeking a hands-on Toolmaker for a leading technology, manufacturing and distribution company. The role centres on setting up a new toolroom, maintaining and repairing production tooling, and expanding into new tool manufacturing with eventual departmental leadership.

Key duties include interpreting engineering drawings, working with conventional and CNC machinery, and advising on toolroom equipment and CAD/CAM solutions.

Qualifications

• Recognised Toolmaker trade test strongly preferred.
• Grade 12/Matric.
• N4–N6 certificate or relevant mechanical diploma advantageous.
• Solid experience in a production tool room building, repairing and maintaining tools.
• Proven experience with injection moulds or dies (progressive dies ideal).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings; 3D CAD and CNC exposure is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Set up, develop and manage the technical aspects of a new toolroom facility.
• Manufacture, repair, modify and maintain production tooling; support toolroom setup and production tooling.
• Work hands-on with conventional toolroom machinery and CNC equipment; interpret drawings accurately.
• Identify, source and evaluate toolroom equipment, CAD/CAM packages and systems.
• Assemble, fit and test tools; troubleshoot to ensure drawings and specs are met.
• Maintain complete tool records including drawings, maintenance logs and spare parts.
• Transition into supervision as the department grows and new staff join.
