Job Opportunity: Toolmaker at Plastic Manufacturing Company
A Plastic Manufacturing company based in New Germany, Pinetown, is seeking a qualified Toolmaker with experience in Edgecam Milling programming and proficiency in Fusion and SolidWorks drawings.
Location: Must reside in the Durban area to qualify.
Minimum Requirements:
Grade 12 or equivalent with several years' experience in injection moulding.
Good command of the English language.
Residency in KZN, Durban.
Edgecam programming expertise is essential.
Experience with CNC Milling is required.
Proficiency in Fusion and SolidWorks for drawings.
Knowledge of manufacturing, tooling, cutting tools, and machine parts.
Basic math skills, including advanced shop mathematics such as trigonometry.
Key Duties:
Maintain repair supplies, track repairs, modifications, and inventory.
Conduct changeovers and maintenance of production moulds and peripheral equipment.
Support production by enhancing and upgrading existing moulds.
Debug new tooling and suggest design improvements.
Operate various tool room equipment for manufacturing inserts.
Review new products and moulds for manufacturability.
Develop standards and practices for tooling.
Plan and schedule daily tasks independently, solving problems proactively.
Read and interpret die, mould, and product drawings accurately.
Identify tooling issues and implement effective solutions.
Fabricate and maintain tools according to standard configurations.
Create parts for existing moulds using sketches, blueprints, and CAD models.
Assist in preventative and routine maintenance of tooling and moulds.
Use precise measuring equipment to ensure tolerances.
Work efficiently under pressure and follow maintenance procedures.
Collaborate with quality and other departments for continuous improvement.
Maintain optimal mould performance by troubleshooting issues.
