A leading company in the tooling industry is seeking a highly skilled Toolmaker to join their team in Springs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of injection mould tooling, utilizing advanced CNC machining and programming skills. POSITION DETAILS:
We are looking for a highly skilled and precise Toolmaker with extensive experience in injection moulding tool manufacturing and CNC machining/programming. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 10 years’ hands-on experience, be a qualified artisan, and demonstrate advanced proficiency in working off technical drawings and 3D CAD models using software such as Mastercam and SolidWorks.
This role is critical to the toolroom's success, focusing on the accurate production, repair, and maintenance of moulds and tooling components. Attention to detail, technical accuracy, and a commitment to craftsmanship are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manufacture, repair, and maintain injection mould tooling to precise specifications.
· Interpret and work from engineering drawings, 3D models, or CAD/CAM files.
· Program, set up, and operate CNC milling machines (3- and 5-axis), lathes, and spark eroders.
· Utilize Mastercam and SolidWorks for toolpath generation, design interpretation, and CNC programming.
· Ensure dimensional accuracy and quality using appropriate measuring equipment and inspection tools.
· Perform precision bench work and final fitting of mould components.
· Contribute to the design, development, and optimization of new moulds and tooling solutions.
· Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on moulds and tooling to ensure continuous performance in production.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with company housekeeping and safety standards.
· Work collaboratively with engineers, toolroom staff, and production teams to ensure project timelines and quality objectives are met.
· Maintain accurate records of jobs, drawings, settings, and machining parameters
Qualifications & Experience:
· Qualified artisan/toolmaker with trade certification.
· Minimum 10 years of experience in toolmaking, specializing in injection mould tooling.
· Proficient in CNC machining and CNC programming using Mastercam and/or other CAM software.
· Experienced in using SolidWorks or similar CAD software for interpreting and working with 3D models.
· Strong background in precision machining, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
· Skilled in using measuring tools such as micrometres, vernier callipers, dial indicators, and gauges.
· Capable of working independently and delivering high-quality work under pressure.
· Knowledge of spark erosion (EDM) and conventional machining is advantageous.
· Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to continuous improvement
