About the Role

Working with the CARE model, you will aim to enhance the lives of young people in our residential Out of Home Care program, incorporating a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach.

You will help create a home-like environment, tailoring support to the individual needs of each young person.

Your responsibilities include supporting educational goals, extracurricular activities, and fostering connections to community and family.

We seek candidates with flexible availability including weekdays and weekends, with a mix of days, afternoons, active nights, and sleepovers.

Positions are casual, with the possibility of permanent part-time roles for suitable candidates. You must be available for at least 25 hours per week. Please note, our Alice Springs residential care operates on a 24/7 roster.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build professional, nurturing relationships with children and young people, fostering trust and engagement.
  • Act as a positive role model, encouraging participation in activities that develop life skills and self-worth.
  • Support family involvement and facilitate visits and connections as needed.
  • Promote positive relationships with peers and significant others.
  • Assist young people in decision-making about activities.
  • Apply an understanding of trauma to interactions and respond sensitively to pain-based behaviors.
Skills & Experience
  • Hold or be working towards a qualification in allied health, community services, or family support, or willing to complete a Cert IV in Child & Family Intervention.
  • Experience working with at-risk children or those in care of Child Protection Family Services.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certificates (cost to be covered by applicant).
  • Clearance checks including National Criminal History Record Check, Working with Children Check, and NT Child Protection Check.
