Job summary

Joint Medical Holdings in KwaZulu-Natal is seeking a Theatre Porter to assist with patient movement to and from theatre, provide courteous and safe transport, and support nurses during transfers. The role requires shift work, weekend/public holiday commitment, and strong communication skills.

The successful candidate will work across departments to maintain a safe hospital environment and deliver high-quality service to patients and staff.

Qualifications

Must have a grade 12 qualification.
Incumbent must be able to work under pressure within a team environment, be people oriented and accept job ownership.
Must be prepared to work weekends and public holidays.
Be prepared to do shiftwork.

Responsibilities

Assist patients to and from Theatre.
Carry out duties with politeness and respect.
Perform other relevant tasks as requested by Superior.
Deal with queries from customers, staff and patients in a courteous, effective and efficient manner.
Collect/transport X-rays, reports and medical records as required.
Assist ward nurses with transfer of inpatients from wards to diagnosis departments when required.
Assist Concierge with patient luggage and wheelchairs as required.
Work closely with all departments to ensure a safe environment for goods and equipment within the hospital.
Ensure patients are transported around hospital and to/from doctors' rooms safely and with high quality service.
