About the Role

As theUnit Manager – Theatre, you will play a key leadership role in managing the day-to-day operations of our ophthalmic theatre, ensuring excellence in surgical preparation, patient safety, and staff coordination. You will work closely with our ophthalmologists and surgical team, guiding quality outcomes and operational efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of clinical care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all theatre operations and nursing staff
  • Ensure optimal staff performance through evaluation, training, and mentorship
  • Maintain theatre readiness, equipment functionality, and infection control
  • Monitor and uphold nursing standards, patient safety, and clinical protocols
  • Coordinate surgical procedures, rosters, and after-hours calls
  • Lead quality improvement and enforce adherence to hospital policies
  • Ensure accurate documentation, stock control, and cost efficiency
  • Medical aid authorization
  • Manage theatre bookings
  • Stock Management

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse withcurrent SANC registration
  • Post Basic Diploma in Operating Theatre Technique(essential)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experiencein a Scrub Nurse role
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities
