Job description

Our client is seeking a qualified Test Engineer to join our team in Stellenbosch working on a hybrid basis with 3 days per week in our office. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our Java-based backend systems with a focus on microservices architecture.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement comprehensive test strategies for Java-based backend systems
2. Create and maintain automated test frameworks for microservices
3. Conduct thorough testing of Kafka event streams and gRPC APIs
4. Collaborate with development teams to integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines
5. Participate in infrastructure testing using Nomad and Docker (Preferred)
6. Develop test tooling using TypeScript (Preferred)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• 3-5 years of professional experience in software testing
• Strong expertise in testing Java backend applications
• Solid understanding of Kafka and event-driven architectures
• Experience testing gRPC services
• Knowledge of microservices testing methodologies

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with container orchestration (Nomad) and containerization (Docker)
• Familiarity with TypeScript for test automation
• Background in telecommunications systems
