Job Title: Territory Manager - Cape Town

Location: Western Cape, Cape Town

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Key Responsibilities:

Drive Operational Excellence
  • Manage the commercial and compliance aspects of contracts with dealers.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of operational, HSSE, and customer service standards using the Site Standards Checklist.
  • Plan and conduct site visits as per the site visits matrix.
  • Implement marketing, non-fuel retailing, and network development initiatives at the site level.
  • Collaborate with Dealers and internal stakeholders to resolve customer complaints.
  • Train Dealers on operational and customer service standards per PUMA Energy requirements.
  • Share best practices among Dealers to ensure consistency and maximize value.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Engineering, Business Support, IT, etc., to ensure site systems are functional and issues are resolved promptly.
Support Network Growth and Site Retention
  • Identify and analyze prospects for new sites and support their development.
  • Work with Engineering and Construction teams on site development and conversions.
  • Enhance site offerings through Non-Fuel Retailing opportunities.
  • Promote PUMA Energy to attract site developer partners.
Monitor KPIs and Analyze Trends
  • Conduct quarterly reviews with Dealers to assess performance and support recovery plans.
  • Benchmark sites regularly to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor sales and other KPIs, analyze trends, and optimize accordingly.
  • Evaluate business segments for margin improvements and eliminate underperforming products/services.
  • Oversee Dealer use of digital customer interfaces.
Optimize Profitability and Returns
  • Review site profitability and implement improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze Profit and Loss statements and support performance enhancement plans.
  • Set sales targets with Dealers and review performance regularly.
  • Manage financial risks through regular health checks of Dealers.
  • Implement recovery plans for underperforming sites.
  • Ensure zero stock-outs via effective logistical and financial planning.
  • Advise Dealers on financial management and controls.
Manage Operational Risks and Compliance
  • Ensure site compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements.
  • Develop action plans to address performance and compliance gaps.
  • Negotiate and manage Dealer contracts timely and according to governance processes.
  • Ensure proper use of Brand assets and intellectual property.
  • Maintain asset registers and perform periodic verifications.
  • Conduct audits and ensure closure of compliance gaps.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Management
  • Maintain adherence to HSE standards to protect PUMA Energy’s reputation.
  • Promote a strong HSE culture within the territory.
  • Conduct HSE inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Oversee wetstock management and quality assurance.
  • Participate in incident investigations and report incidents timely.
Accountabilities
  • Maximize ROCE by delivering the Customer Value Proposition and growing the network and profitability.
  • Support Dealers to improve site performance and image safely and compliantly.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Dealers and stakeholders.
  • Ensure Dealers adhere to customer service, HSSE, compliance, and operational standards.
  • Manage Dealer induction, onboarding, and performance reviews.
Requirements and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or related field.
  • Postgraduate degree preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of the fuels market is advantageous.
  • Experience in dealer contract negotiations.
  • Background in administrative or management roles.
