Job description

Our client in the Telecoms Industry is looking to hire a Temp Senior Bookkeeper.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Client and vendor payment approvals and allocations
  2. Customer collections including the control of any automated collection system such as the bank's ACB module.
  3. Banking status and reconciliations
  4. Ensuring SARS, Bank, and other documentation required is completed to efficiently run the business
  5. Sales and stock reporting and analysis
  6. Resolving client and vendor queries efficiently
  7. Payroll submissions to Payroll department
  8. Stock, Cashbook, Journal, and General ledger reconciliations
  9. Fixed Asset control
  10. Creating and processing Purchase Orders, Stock receipts, Picking Slips, Invoices, Returns, and other documents
  11. Electronic Banking and Database Administration
  12. Policies and Procedures Administration and implementation
  13. Monthly full stock takes and daily cycle counts
  14. Trial Balance & management accounts reporting
  15. Reconciliation and submission of Statutory returns
  16. Supervising and reporting on subordinate activities
  17. Processing of all cashbooks and documentation daily
  18. Reconciliation of Debtors and Creditors
  19. Negotiating and booking rates on forward exchange contracts
  20. Controlling company documentation according to system
  21. Meeting all deadlines for financial reporting
  22. Preparing monthly management accounts and financial statements
  23. Analyzing income and expenses, reporting variances, and ensuring timely payments
  24. Controlling and verifying Gross Profit percentages
  25. Calculating commissions and rebates
  26. Managing stock takes and variances
  27. Adhering to ethical accounting practices
  28. Effective communication and leadership skills
  29. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and on multiple companies
  30. Understanding of Branch accounting for retail stores
  31. Other duties as required by management

Requirements

  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Cashbook experience
  • Stock experience
  • Completed articles (added advantage)
  • Payroll experience (added advantage)
  • Fast learner
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Matric / BCom qualification
