Job Summary: Provide support services in the operation and maintenance of an academic or research laboratory, including performing analyses, equipment setup, operation, maintenance, cleaning, and stock management.

Specific duties will be determined based on assignment and unit needs. The position will interact regularly with faculty, staff, and students, advise lab users, and may include supervising tasks.

Responsibilities:

  1. Setup, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
  2. Order supplies and maintain records.
  3. Set up laboratory media/equipment for demonstrations.
  4. Clean instruments and lab equipment as needed.
  5. Prepare and process laboratory samples.
  6. Perform routine electrical tests, basic wiring, monitor tests, and record data.
  7. Perform equipment maintenance and repair.
  8. Construct electrical and mechanical tests and prepare basic reports.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or Vocational School Diploma.
  • Up to two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of electrical technician experience.
  • Technical diploma or associate degree in electrical technology or similar discipline.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Working knowledge of instrumentation, lab processes, inventory management, and computer applications.
