THENSA invites applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), to become vacant upon the current CEO’s retirement on 30 June 2027. THENSA represents technology-focused higher education institutions in South Africa and beyond, guiding teaching, research, and entrepreneurial ecosystems.

The CEO provides strategic leadership, oversees key initiatives, and manages day-to-day operations, reporting to the Board.

Qualifikationen

• Doctoral degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
• At least 10 years of proven experience in academic management at a university of technology or a comprehensive university, preferably at executive management level.
• Proven teaching, research, innovation, and community engagement.
• Track record of developing and maintaining relationships with industry, professional bodies, and national/international community.
• Practical knowledge and experience of quality assurance processes.
• Thorough understanding of the SA Higher Education landscape, especially the technology-focused sector.
• Proven sound financial management in an organisational setting.
• Evidence of successful fundraising endeavours.
• Proven human resource management skills.
• Evidence of establishing and maintaining regional and international linkages and mobilising mutually beneficial national and international education, government, business and industry ecosystems and networks.
