Technology / Domain Specialist I

The Role : To actively own and participate in the overall evolution of the Technology or Domain asset while influencing and maintaining the health of the asset.

Play a leadership role on the associated COE's Job Responsibilities:

1. Architectural Design and Development: Design, develop, and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance Java-based applications and systems.
2. Complex Problem Solving: Tackle complex technical challenges and design solutions that adhere to industry standards and best practices.
3. Performance Optimization: Ensure applications are optimized for high availability, performance, and reliability.
4. Code Quality and Reviews: Maintain high standards of code quality through code reviews, testing, and automated processes.
5. Collaboration and Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of developers, providing technical guidance and fostering a collaborative environment.
6. Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with Engineering lead to gather technical requirements and understand architecture, translate them into technical specifications, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
7. Compliance and Security: Ensure all developments adhere to banking regulations, data protection policies, and security standards.
8. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the development process.

Essential Qualifications:

1. NQF Level Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
2. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Minimum Experience Level:

Minimum of 10 years of experience in Java development, with a proven track record in designing, implementing, and optimizing complex systems for financial institutions.

Technical / Technology Exposure:

1. Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Devops).
2. Experience with cloud platforms preferably Azure (AKS).
3. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions.
4. Proficiency in Java, Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud), and related technologies.
5. Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (e.g., Azure MS SQL and PostgreSQL).
6. Expertise in performance tuning, profiling, and optimization of containerized applications.
