Job description

Broadband Infraco, a long-distance national and international optic fibre connectivity network infrastructure provider based in Radiokop, seeks to appoint suitable candidates for the following employment opportunity:

Technicians x3 (Johannesburg) - 24 Months Fixed Term Contract (SA-Connect Project)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Reporting to the Supervisor: Operations and Maintenance, responsible for maintaining network capacity, reliability, and sustainability.
  2. Conduct site surveys, assist with installations, site space acquisition, service testing (Layer 2 and 3), and quality inspections on the SA Connect project.
  3. Support project management activities, including resource coordination and information management throughout the project lifecycle.
  4. Install, commission, and ensure quality standards and compliance of new equipment and infrastructure according to BBI standards.
  5. Possess in-depth knowledge of fibre optics, transmission equipment, DC power systems, IP configurations, and alarm monitoring systems, with strong analytical skills for fault analysis and troubleshooting.
  6. Perform reactive maintenance and asset management.
  7. Willingness to work long hours is required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • BTech / BEng or N6 National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (HC / LC) or equivalent.
  • Registration with ECSA is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in telecommunications, especially in network maintenance.
  • Knowledge of fibre optics, IP configuration, power systems, and test result interpretation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Familiarity with ITU-T Standards.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
