Job description

Our client in the engineering services sector is urgently seeking a skilled Technician Supervisor with solid experience in the gas industry.

This role is ideal for a qualified artisan with proven supervisory capabilities, a strong understanding of gas operations, and hands-on technical ability.

Minimum Requirements :

• Matric / Grade 12 with Maths, Science, and English
• N6 and / or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
• Trade Test in an Engineering field (Mechanical preferred)
• SACGA-accredited Gas Installer – preferred and strongly advantageous
• 10+ years’ experience in a heavy engineering or production environment, specifically within the gas industry
• Experience working with cryogenic equipment
• 5+ years’ supervisory experience, managing Technicians, Artisans, and Contractors
• Strong knowledge of gas operations and applications
• Ability to perform physical installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting work
• Experience in technician training and skills development
• Familiarity with SHERQ management systems and ISO standards
• Excellent planning, organisational, and communication skills
• Medically fit to work at heights
• Valid Code 08 driver’s licence and reliable transport
• Willing to travel and work overtime
• Computer literate, especially in MS Office Suite

Key Responsibilities :

• Supervise engineering operations and projects in the Western & Eastern Cape
• Ensure maintenance and project sections comply with legal and company standards
• Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance schedules
• Manage equipment refurbishments to optimise cost-efficiency
• Oversee technician training programmes and skills development
• Manage the execution of project work plans
• Ensure high-quality standards in installations and maintenance work
• Maintain full SHERQ and ISO compliance
• Uphold strict health and safety protocols
