We Are Hiring – QCS Technician

Are you passionate about driving system reliability and performance? Join our team as a QCS Technician and play a pivotal role in minimizing downtime, enhancing system efficiency, and ensuring the seamless integration of advanced Quality Control Systems (QCS) across our operations.

Key Responsibilities

As a QCS Technician, you will:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex inter-system and equipment issues to minimize operational downtime.
  • Optimize and maintain system-to-system interfaces for daily operational efficiency.
  • Perform design, installation, testing, commissioning, and fault-finding of all relevant QCS equipment, including:
  • Scanners
  • Slice control systems
  • Dilution headboxes
  • Calcoil induction profilers
  • WBS and WIS camera systems
  • Other site-specific QCS components

Use specialized test equipment and apply relevant standards to ensure performance and compliance.

Manage and maintain industrial communication networks using diagnostic software and tools.

Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within control systems and interfaces.

Interpret, design, and update technical diagrams for control systems.

Apply sound project management principles (e.g., PM²), including contractor coordination and the use of planning tools like bar charts.

Use hand and power tools safely and effectively for installations and maintenance tasks.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support high-performance, reliable operations.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong analytical thinking and advanced fault-finding skills.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and generating control system diagrams.
  • Skilled in network design, QCS testing, commissioning, calibration, and maintenance.

Minimum Requirements

  • Recognized Instrument Trade Certificate
  • Relevant Qualification NQF6
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Heavy Industry
  • Experience in the Paper Industry is preferred.
