Reporting directly to the Director of IT, the successful incumbent will be responsible for providing effective leadership within the department, working closely with hotel management to ensure the efficient maintenance, enhancement, and management of all hotel-based IT systems in accordance with Marriott International Policies and Procedures within a pressurized environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, manage, maintain, test, evaluate, and repair computer networks, workstations, support server systems, supporting hardware/software, user accounts, and computer/telephone rooms.
- Train and instruct users in proper use and security of all systems.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and resolve technical problems related to hardware, software, LAN, WAN, and internet connectivity.
- Respond to program error messages and provide network communications support and technical guidance.
- Refer major problems to vendors or technicians and analyze, recommend, and implement process improvements.
- Consult with others to assess and resolve computing needs and system requirements.
- Inspect, test, and diagnose computer equipment and systems.
- Plan and coordinate IT equipment installations, moves, additions, changes, and system enhancements.
- Implement and coordinate network security measures.
- Provide end-user support for all applications and manage disk space for the entire network.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all technological devices and ensure backup tapes are securely stored.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions.
- Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
- Assist guests and support other employees to meet service needs.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, answer telephones appropriately, and serve as a role model for company policies.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships, support team efforts, and ensure adherence to quality standards.
Candidate Profile
Education and Experience
- IT tertiary qualification (degree or diploma).
- Minimum 4 years in the IT field, with at least 1 year in a hospitality environment.
- Experience supporting hotel IT infrastructure (preferred).
- Strong planning, organizing, and operational efficiency skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, use initiative, and be proactive.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Attention to detail and professional appearance.
- Valid driver’s license and own transport (preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft and Microsoft Server, Opera PMS, and NEC PABX.
Technical Skills
- Support of HP switches, VLANs, TCP/IP, and routing.
- Wireless networking (Ruckus), Simphony POS, MCSE/MCTIP certifications, CCNA experience, ITIL fundamentals, Oracle, SQL queries.
Job Summary
- Maintain and develop high standards of service within the IT department.
- Coordinate daily IT operations, deliver customer service per SLAs, and monitor suppliers.
- Support departmental efficiency, control operational expenditure, and manage the hotel network infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with Marriott information security and audit standards.
- Assist in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Manage system documentation, capacity planning, and compliance monitoring.
