Location: Secunda

Purpose of Job: To test or modify developmental or operational electrical machinery or electrical control equipment and circuitry in business/operational cluster plants or laboratories to maintain them in the best possible condition.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that work standards are met according to quality, quantity, and due dates.
  • Support and live company values and goals.
  • Achieve delivery targets such as tons, products, and services specific to the business unit and discipline.
  • Ensure targets, due dates, and quality standards are met by self and team.
  • Adhere to the MOC procedure for all changes.
  • Support Asset Management philosophy.
  • Coordinate the execution of maintenance strategies.
  • Ensure work standards meet quality standards and compliance.
  • Assist with RBI studies and the Maintenance strategy process to enhance equipment reliability.
  • Optimize and control resources effectively, performing all tasks cost-consciously.
  • Independently gather information and data, with awareness of cost and budget considerations.
  • Achieve safety and risk objectives by applying safety in all practices, especially project planning and execution.
  • Understand and demonstrate the company vision, values, and desired behaviors.
  • Improve personal skills and knowledge, taking ownership of personal development plans.
  • Set and review personal performance goals regularly.
  • Manage work planning and delivery according to targets, reviewing compliance and standards.
  • Resolve work obstacles positively and quickly.
  • Develop technical proposals based on practical and theoretical knowledge.
  • Build customer relationships to understand their needs and project a positive departmental image.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with managers and peers, and provide technical input to project teams.

Formal Education:

  • Post School Tertiary Diploma in Electrical Heavy Current
  • Knowledge of Motor Soft starters (VSD, MCP), Synchronous Motor Excitation System, Furnace systems and control, DC Systems (UPS, BTU)
