Responsibilities and Requirements for Data Center Maintenance Technician
The candidate must:
- Understand the working principles, maintenance requirements, and fault diagnosis of diesel generator sets, oil systems, ATS equipment, and the control logic of fuel supply systems. Be familiar with schematic diagrams of electrical circuits and control circuits.
- Know the system architecture of electrical products in data centers, including UPS systems, DC plants, batteries, etc., and understand their working principles, maintenance, and fault diagnosis.
- Understand HVAC equipment, including installation, inspection, repair of ducts, refrigerants, and compressors.
- Perform daily inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel generators, HVAC, and refrigeration systems. Be capable of supporting medium and major repairs.
- Develop equipment maintenance SOPs, operation and maintenance plans, and manage spare parts inventory and procurement.
- Proficient in using mechanical and electrical tools and materials.
- Possess problem-solving skills to diagnose and repair failures efficiently.
- Work effectively under high pressure, with flexibility for overtime and emergency support.
- Maintain records of activities, monitor spare parts, and report issues promptly.
- Demonstrate good communication and teamwork skills, and maintain excellent customer service.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum six (6) years relevant work experience, preferably in data center operations and maintenance.
- Wireman's license / red seal is mandatory.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or relevant technical diploma.
- Relevant industry certifications such as Professional Engineering Technician, or certifications from SARACCA, SEIFSA, or SAQCC.
- Experience with safety operations and standards in HVAC and electrical/mechanical fields, especially in telecommunications data centers or similar facilities.
