Job Description: Technician Assistant - Maintenance

Division: Weir Minerals

Location: Alrode

Onsite/Shifts

Purpose of Role: The successful candidate will assist with general work in the maintenance department and support the Artisan if proper training has been provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all Safety, Health, Environment (SHE), and housekeeping requirements.
  • Support routine inspections of premises and equipment to identify unsafe or malfunctioning conditions.
  • Assist the maintenance team with routine tasks (plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry) and maintain cleanliness in work areas.
  • Help with event setups and breakdowns, including moving furniture, and aid in diagnosing and repairing equipment issues.
  • Commit to zero harm behaviors to promote a safety culture.

Qualifications:

  • Technical qualification (e.g., N3 Mechanical / Electrical)
  • Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, mobile elevated work platforms
  • Problem-solving and communication skills
  • Basic technical skills: using hand and power tools, understanding plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
