Job summary

A leading supplier of kitchen appliances is seeking a qualified Technician based in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in repairs and assembly of equipment, along with a technical qualification. Responsibilities include repairing machinery, ensuring quality service, and maintaining tools. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years technical experience including repairs and assembly of equipment.
  • Able to perform repairs and installations of equipment.
  • Knowledge of customer services and OHS Act knowledge.

Overview

Leading supplier of kitchen utensils, industrial cookware, commercial kitchens & appliances to the hospitality & food service industries based in Blackheath, Cape Town is looking for a qualified Technician.

Duties
  • Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery or equipment.
  • Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery or equipment and diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices.
  • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
  • Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment or machinery.
  • Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
  • Test newly repaired machinery or equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
  • Provide comprehensive and accurate reports on diagnosis, assessment of component / part, failures, observations, actions and recommendations.
  • Record parts or materials used and order or requisition new parts or materials as necessary.
  • Ensure excellence in customer service delivery through meticulously following procedures / processes.
  • Ensure the correct documentation is in place and accurately completed before repairs are done.
  • Ensure that all OHS procedures are followed and that all tools and equipment is handled with proficiency and with the necessary respect.
Requirements
  • Grade 12
  • Relevant technical qualification - electrical / mechanical / refrigeration.
  • At least 3 years technical (workshop and repairs) experience which include repairs, assembly of equipment, quotations on parts, etc.
  • Able to perform repairs and installations of equipment
  • Technical repairs skills including refrigeration repairs
  • Excellent communication skills on all levels (speak, read and write)
  • Ability to manage customer’s expectations
  • Problem solving skills

  • PC literate (SAP, Excel, Word, e-mail)
