The following vacancy exists within the Afrivet Training Services company (ATS) at AFRIVET. Interested individuals should submit a short written application (maximum three pages) to the Human Resources Department. Please highlight your qualifications and experience relevant to the position.

Afrivet Technical and Training Services (ATS) is looking for a highly motivated person to join the Technical Team. This position will be focused primarily on providing infield professional veterinary technical support services & expertise to the Afrivet sales and marketing divisions. In addition, their duties are to support marketing and sales with technical information & positioning of our product mix, also to provide veterinary support services to staff, sales, commercial, co-ops, subsistence farmers & under-serviced communities. The position will include all aspects of veterinary services, but with a strong focus on growing the Livestock and Intensive Animal Production units.

JOB DESCRIPTION – Not limited but aligned to:

1.Technical support

·Supply ongoing in-field technical support to internal and external clients of Afrivet Business Management and Afrivet Training Services

·Handle product complaints

·Research, prepare and deliver presentations at farmer’s days, veterinary training days, or others

·Develop training material for Afrivet Training Services

·Provide technical support to the Commercial and Regulatory units with regards to product evaluation

·Support ongoing marketing and regulatory trials

2.Liaison with stakeholders

·Liaison with key players in the animal industry

3.Marketing material

·Provide technical and veterinary support in the development and maintenance of marketing material produced by the marketing department for both new and in-line products

4.Increase customer base

·Host at least 6 farmer days per quarter

·Host coop training to be coordinated with the Afrivet sales teams

·Visit key clients with / without relevant Sales Representative / Area Manager

·Speak at various veterinary meetings, congresses, etc.

5.Marketing & strategic planning

·Develop strategic activities with the Marketing team

·Plan marketing and branding objectives by product group and develop marketing plans and strategies with the Marketing team

·Collaborate with sales and procurement divisions to help develop strategic activities on identified marketing plans

·Responsible for technical support in planning, implementing, and managing marketing, advertising and promotional activities and campaigns

6.Other requirements

·Self-study of relevant literature to become an expert in the area

·Maintain a good level of awareness of current affairs in the veterinary and animal industry by self-study, conferences, attending meetings and personal contact with key players

·Develop and maintain good relationships with Afrivet personnel

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION/COMPETENCIES CRITERIA:

·BVSc degree

·Registered and in good standing with the South African Veterinary council (SAVC)

·1 – 5 years ofprevious working experience in Animal Health

·Veterinary Industry knowledge in Livestock and Intensive animal production systems – advantageous

·Veterinary products background/experience – advantageous

·Advanced reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required

·Advanced MS Word/Excel skills combined with therest of MS packages, BusinessMap and Monday.com

·Strong English verbal, reading and writing skills essential, other languages beneficial.

WORKING HOURS:

·Afrivet Standard Working Hours – 08H00 to 17h00 Mon to Fri, however this is client and operations dependent. Must be willing and available to work extended hours as and where required.

·Travelling could result in extended office hours

WORKING CONDITIONS:

·Working conditions are normal for an office within the pharmaceutical environment. Work involves high pressure within a demanding environment, whilst ensuring quality and client relations are not compromised. Travelling forms an integral part of the working conditions.
