Maintain the standards of the underwriting department to enhance the image of Hollard.
Ensure all administrative functions within the underwriting team are adhered to by verifying rating principles, legal requirements, reinsurance requirements, and mandates.
Process all complex and referral business.
Focus on reinsurance placement and renewal business.
Implement all technical directives for the branch.
Complete all assigned technical underwriting tasks within the company's standards to contribute to departmental productivity, within delegated parameters.
Maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Underwriting: Analyze data prepared by the underwriting team to ensure quality assurance, utilizing rating tools, placing reinsurance, conducting loss ratio analysis, and managing surveys and reviews.
Decline undesirable risks.
Renewals: Support the Renewal Team and Broker Consultants to meet volume and value targets for quality new business within company guidelines by managing large renewals as mandated.
Processing: Conduct ad-hoc audits and monitor underwriting processing according to company guidelines, ensuring transactions are completed within delegated authority and service standards.
Quality assessment: Assess all high-risk policy schedules and manage broker compliance issues.
Assist with head office referrals.
Ensure undesirable risks are declined.
Underwriting audits: Coordinate internal and external audits, including scheduling, follow-up, and record management.
Quality control: Adhere to quality standards and track rework to identify training needs.
Customer service: Maintain customer service standards, provide technical advice, and assist beyond normal duties.
Diary management: Manage daily diary files, the central Technical Underwriting mailbox, and ensure referrals are addressed within SLA.
Keep records (registers, documents, emails) updated and maintain documentation on the Technical Underwriting Drive.
Communicate effectively with external parties and internal teams, responding to queries within 48 hours.
General duties: Perform any other operational duties necessary for the company's effectiveness within your scope.
