Role Purpose

The purpose of the Senior Advisor – Operations role within the Office of the Vice President, Programs of the Open Society Foundations is to provide strategic advice and expertise to the Vice President, Programs of OSF on cross-cutting operational matters, as well as functional operational priorities of organizational significance.

The incumbent will play a key role in liaising within the Office of the Vice President, Programs for all operational functions related to organization-wide projects, operational priorities, and work of organizational impact.

The Senior Advisor- Operations will advise and contribute to operational workstreams, participate in project teams, and represent the Office of the Vice President when appropriate, ensuring the Vice President's views are well represented.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as liaison for the Vice President, Programs with the President's Office, COO, and senior leaders regarding operational projects, updates, proposals, and planning.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with operations leadership and contribute to defining new operational strategies.
  • Handle inquiries, develop action plans, and assist with communication preparations for the Office of the Vice President, Programs.
  • Ensure operational viability of new opportunities through due diligence activities.
  • Represent the Office in forums focused on organizational culture.
  • Collaborate with the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Culture Director, and Operations Associate Directors.
  • Act as the liaison to advance operational priorities, impact investments, and initiatives, excluding programmatic matters.
  • Coordinate responses on operational issues, draft and edit briefing memos, statements, and talking points.
  • Oversee budgets, review spend, and manage contracts and invoices related to the Vice President's Office.
  • Supervise two colleagues in the Vice President, Programs office.
People Responsibilities

Manage a team of 2 colleagues, overseeing quarterly data assessments and key organizational metrics.

Ideal Candidate
  • Leadership experience within OSF Operations departments (Finance, People and Culture, Legal, etc.).
  • Extensive experience in leading large-scale, complex projects with organizational impact.
  • Proven senior-level engagement across a global organization.
  • Change management expertise, leading teams through organizational change.
  • Budget management responsibility exceeding $1M annually.
  • Strong project management, information organization, and strategic development skills.
  • Ability to make informed decisions and provide recommendations to leadership.
