Job summary

Syspro in Sandton, Gauteng, seeks aTechnical Solutions Consultant to lead end-to-end technical delivery for ERP implementations. You will advise on architecture, performance, integration and AI-enabled capabilities, guiding engagements from PoC to go-live.

The role requires deep ERP and Syspro product knowledge, strong root-cause analysis, and the ability to mentor junior staff while collaborating with customers and internal teams. Hybrid work arrangement is offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum Higher Certificate in a relevant field.
• B.Com IT or equivalent IT qualification preferred for Senior Specialist.
• Syspro certifications advantageous.
• At least 7 years in a technical IT or ERP-related field with 3+ years in customer-facing ERP implementations.
• Experience installing enterprise-scale software in customer environments.
• Experience in project-centric, structured implementation frameworks.
• Minimum 4 years’ Syspro product experience including two full lifecycle implementations as lead technical Resource.

Responsibilities

• Provide best-practice guidance on technical infrastructure and network considerations for customer projects.

• Monitor server resources and performance across all phases; resolve bottlenecks proactively.
• Lead PoC efforts and author functional specifications to anchor customer commitments.
• Define and maintain technical documentation standards for each engagement.
• Present assessment reports with findings, recommendations, and resolution strategies to IT leadership.
• Drive AI orchestration and Generative AI capabilities in ERP contexts for advisory engagements.
• Mentor junior consultants and contribute to capability uplift and playbooks.

Job description

The Technical Solutions Consultant is the lead technical specialist on Syspro ERP implementations, accountable for end-to-end technical delivery and the trusted advisor to customer infrastructure and IT leadership on architecture, performance, and integration decisions. The role sets the technical implementation standard for assigned engagements, owns root-cause resolution of complex issues, leads proof-of-concept and feasibility work, and is the escalation point for technical risk during the implementation lifecycle. The role shapes Syspro’s adoption of emerging capabilities — including AI orchestration and Generative AI in ERP contexts — and transfers that capability to peers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing best practice advice and guidance regarding the technical infrastructure and network communication considerations within the context of customer-facing project activity.
• Lead and approve the installation of Syspro and approved third-party products on the customer’s target infrastructure, setting the documentation standard for the engagement.
• Own a comprehensive command of the Syspro core product portfolio, including OEM and approved third-party products, and define the minimum and recommended technical requirements for each engagement, articulating them clearly to customer technical resources.
• Define the recommended hardware and infrastructure configuration (disk, CPU, RAM, logical partitioning, cloud/on-premises mix) to meet functional and non-functional requirements, and review customer procurement decisions against it.
• Set the technical infrastructure baseline and govern hardware selection decisions, ensuring all customer infrastructure choices are validated against Syspro’s implementation standards before procurement is finalised.
• Govern technical performance standards throughout the implementation lifecycle, leading performance testing and troubleshooting to ensure system readiness is confirmed before go-live.
• Own root-cause analysis and resolution of complex technical issues spanning Syspro, SQL, infrastructure, and integration layers; act as the technical escalation point for the implementation team.
• Monitor and govern server resource utilisation and system performance across all implementation and support phases, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks before they affect go-live timelines.
• Lead proof-of-concept exercises and author the functional specification artefacts that anchor customer commitment to the proposed solution.
• Define and maintain the technical documentation standard for each engagement, covering troubleshooting procedures, system configurations, and implementation baselines.
• Author technical assessment reports and present structured findings, recommendations, and resolution strategies to customer IT leadership and project stakeholders.
• Drive Syspro’s practical application of AI orchestration and Generative AI capabilities within customer ERP environments, translating emerging tooling into engagement-ready advisory and ensuring the team stays ahead of the technology curve.
• Mentor Intermediate and Junior Technical Consultants, run internal capability uplift sessions, and contribute to the Professional Services technical playbook; collaborate with internal IT teams and third-party suppliers to resolve complex cross-functional issues.

Requirements

Minimum Level of Education

• Higher Certificate in relevant field

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in a technical IT or ERP-related field, with at least 3 years in a customer-facing ERP implementation capacity.

• Minimum 4 years’ Syspro product experience, including at least two full-lifecycle implementations as the lead technical resource.

• Sound knowledge of core software operating system concepts and principles.
• Strong knowledge of network comms & enterprise cloud, Azure, and on-premises hardware components and configuration, including connected services.
• Broad knowledge of all core ERP processes is desirable.
• Existing knowledge of SYSPRO and associated OEM and approved third-party products is desirable.
• Strong and broad technical skills relating to all core enterprise server, desktop hardware, and network considerations, for both on-premises, cloud, Azure, and connected services.
• A well-rounded knowledge of enterprise software installation considerations is required (and preferably within an ERP context), to ensure that SYSPRO software installations are carried out to a consistently high standard, in readiness for the consultancy agenda to commence.
• Outstanding attention to detail and in context to written documentation.
• Ability to build rapport with and help influence the decision-making process with customers and internal teams alike.
• Excellent organizational skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server Management, including query writing, performance monitoring, and basic troubleshooting.
• System administration and integration skills, with the ability to configure, maintain, and connect enterprise software components.
• Strong system analysis and troubleshooting capabilities, including root cause identification and structured problem resolution.
• Working knowledge of AI orchestration, including familiarity with Generative AI tools and their application in enterprise software and ERP contexts.
• Project management awareness and the ability to operate effectively within structured implementation frameworks.
