Key Purpose

The key purpose of this role is to take the strategic lead for the Engineering and Utilities functions in the brewery. This includes the operational management of environmental plant and equipment, leading related strategic initiatives, and ensuring corporate governance for equipment and system integrity through adherence to relevant standards and legislation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain a safe, healthy, and risk-free working environment.
  2. Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental legislation.
  3. Maintain safety and housekeeping standards.
  4. Manage human resources effectively, developing employees based on identified needs through OPR sessions.
  5. Ensure a healthy industrial relations climate.
  6. Manage the technical pipeline for key roles, including apprenticeship and artisan development.
  7. Ensure manufacturing systems and instrumentation integrity, including maintenance, calibration, and compliance with engineering standards.
  8. Develop and update engineering standards through ZBS, Maintenance, and Energy & Fluids leads.
  9. Lead the maintenance strategy as per VPO - Maintenance Pillar, optimizing planned maintenance systems and applying formal failure analysis processes.
  10. Implement engineering spares strategies, VPO, and associated GOPs, managing progress according to glide paths.
  11. Implement E&F toolkit and sustain improvements.
  12. Manage all site projects, ensuring completion on time and within budget, and compliance to MOC.
  13. Manage financial performance, including ZBB maintenance, CAPEX budgeting, and controlling departmental costs.
  14. Review financial results and manage utilities usage, ensuring accurate reporting and prompt action on deviations.
  15. Implement VA & SWEEP initiatives, sourcing funds and monitoring results.
  16. Apply E&F global processes and best practices (GOPs, SWEEP, Levers).
  17. Develop and standardize business continuity plans for utilities and plant systems, mitigating obsolescence and sharing best practices.
  18. Monitor utilities quality parameters (IQMS) and implement ammonia and steam process safety management programs.
  19. Manage safety, uphold standards (UPP), and oversee CAPEX portfolios.
  20. Ensure operational requirements of the brewery environmental function are met, maintaining environmental plant and equipment as per best practices, and optimizing revenue streams from waste and by-products.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3-year appropriate tertiary qualification, e.g., B-Tech: Mechanical or Electrical, BSc. Mechanical or Electrical.
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in an FMCG environment.
