Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions is a global leading supplier in equipment and tools, parts, service and technical solutions for the mining and infrastructure industries. Applications include rock drilling, rock cutting, loading and hauling, tunnelling and quarrying. The focus lies on bringing value to customers through high-performing products that increase productivity and safety as well as to provide services and flexible maintenance programs that extend uptime and cut costs.

The Role:

The Technical Services Manager is responsible for leading, coordinating, managing and optimizing technical services team performance. The role includes shaping technical services processes and taking full responsibility for project execution, support services during and client success throughout the assigned region, during sales, deployment and aftermarket.

The role offers an opportunity to apply their technical and managerial skills in delivering transformational technology projects to mine sites across the assigned region.

Key Performance Areas:

  1. Understand customer requirements and document what is necessary to adapt our solutions to improve customers operations and processes.
  2. Lead teams of professionals in the development, implementation and support of Sandvik automation and digital solutions and systems.
  3. Lead projects, manage audits, or provide training and ensure value realization under ROI compliance by securing client testimonials (white papers, reference videos, joint conference presentations).
  4. Ensure the technical services team achieves target billable utilization and support rates while maintaining operating costs as per the business plan.
  5. Verify that 1st, 2nd and 3rd line client support is conducted and take responsibility for a high degree of customer satisfaction.
  6. Verify that product and technology support is conducted and take responsibility for a high degree of customer satisfaction.
  7. Verify that the Administration, Logistic, Safety, and HR services on project activities and Sandvik internal activities are conducted.
  8. Ensure schedule and budget project delivery using project management and change management principles.
  9. Relay market intelligence to Business Unit Automation R&D, Product Management and Sales teams and maintain an up-to-date understanding of technology development and roadmap.
  10. Ensure all direct reports follow a safety-first policy and always have valid safety training certificates.
  11. Ensure invoicing for all active projects, staff time entries and expense reports are completed correctly on-time and reported to management on a monthly basis.
  12. Support the Sandvik sales team to ensure a healthy pipeline of services activities are available in support of growth plans by assisting customers to achieve value from Sandvik automation products and solutions.
  13. Manage a team; adapts plans and priorities to meet service and/or operational challenges.
  14. Coach employees to achieve both professional and task-oriented objectives in alignment with business objectives.
  15. Co-ordinate systems trials, communicate results and recommendations to customers and respective business units.

Your Profile:

Minimum required education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Computer, Automation, Mechanical, Systems, or Mining Engineering or a Diploma with substantial relevant experience.

Minimum years of experience:

  • + 7 years of experience automation, proximity detection technologies and sales environment (advantageous).

Type of experience Required:

  • Implementations of Automation/Telemetry/Production Control / Maintenance Control Systems for Mining.
  • Heavy vehicle mechanics/electronics, vehicle telemetry, industrial automation, and/or telecommunications.
  • Mentoring and coaching coworkers.
  • Managing multiple complex technical service projects.
  • Underground hard rock and Surface mining industry.
  • Building and managing high performance teams.
