Job description

The Technical Service Representative position involves providing technical support for roofing to the sales team both on-site and in the office.

Typical Competencies Required:

  • Good understanding of the roofing, construction industry, and heavy-duty coatings.
  • Self-confident and persistent.
  • Technical background with quality control experience.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Basic report writing skills.
  • Willing and able to travel throughout Sub-Saharan Africa when required.
  • Must have a valid passport.

Performance Areas

Technical Support to Sales

  • Support sales representatives and their clients.
  • Ensure product specifications are met through site inspections and sample panels.
  • Provide technical assistance, training, and demonstrations on product application, limitations, performance, and properties.
  • Offer technical advice and recommendations on-site or telephonically.
  • Provide dry sample packs and on-site sample panels as required.
  • Assist with product development and evaluation.
  • Conduct investigative work upon request.
  • Follow up on customer complaints with field and lab investigations.

Administration

  • Maintain accurate records for each project.
  • Submit timely and accurate call reports to the Technical Service Manager.
  • Compile general reports on digital platforms such as Tru QC.
  • Maintain detailed reference reports on major projects or those with warranties, available to management as needed.

Compliance

  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.

Health & Safety

  • Wear PPE at all times and comply with safety protocols on-site.

Protection of Company Assets

  • Use company tools and equipment correctly and store them safely to prevent damage and theft.
