Your Role and Responsibilities
- In this role, you will have the opportunity to ensure the Service portfolio is delivered effectively according to ABB standard processes and safety guidelines to satisfy customers.
- Each day, you will execute technical support, act as a specialist, and solve problems in your own area of expertise. You will also showcase your expertise by communicating both with the customer and ABB sales teams proactively to ensure customer needs are understood and business opportunities utilized for service growth.
- The work model for the role is: Hybrid / Remote
- This role is contributing to the High Power Rectifiers within the Process Automation, Process Industries Division in Southern Africa based in South Africa. Main stakeholders are Mining refineries - Electrowinning, Pulp & Paper - Chemical plants, Metals - Electric Arc Furnaces, Aluminum Potlines, and Hydrogen plants.
You will be mainly accountable for :
- Providing technical support and solving problems in own expertise area via remote or on-site service in any Service category.
- Determining effective Service applications, equipment, and methods to develop, market, or manufacture new Service offerings to respond to customer requirements cost-effectively.
- Providing technical consulting on Service solutions to management and customers.
- Identifying new service / sales opportunities, proactively communicating both with the customer and ABB sales teams to ensure customer needs are understood and business opportunities utilized for service growth.
- Working with the customer to shape and deliver service solutions while seeking customer feedback to drive and deliver service improvements.

Qualifications for the role
- You are highly skilled in Electrical Engineering with a focus on High Power rectifiers, Power Electronics and control.
- Ability to demonstrate your experience in related industries and process knowledge of High-Power rectifiers and have 3 - 5 years of experience in service execution.
- Working as a service engineer within a multi-disciple engineering team with knowledge in Aluminum Potlines, Electric Arc Furnaces, DC drives, and specialized transformers, will be an advantage.
- Possess an enhanced knowledge of electrical applications and systems in Power conversion.
- You must be able to clearly interpret, document, and explain complex electrical concepts, drawings, and specifications to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering with experience in service environments where you need to collaborate closely with engineers, clients, service and project teams, to ensure accurate information flow, project execution, and compliance with standards.
- You are at ease communicating in English with the ability to convey electrical knowledge effectively is essential.
- You must be in possession of a valid in driver’s license for South-Africa.
