Technical Repair Engineer

Red Ember Recruitment is looking for a Technical Engineer for their client.

POSITION INFO :

The successful incumbent will report to the Technical Manager and the requirements of the position include the :

1. Experience with firmware upgrades on handheld computers.
2. Ability to reprogram new main boards after replacement.
3. Strong diagnostic skills for identifying faults on scanners and label printers.
4. Capability to conduct preventative maintenance on mobility equipment at customer locations.
5. Availability for callouts to diagnose and repair faulty mobility equipment.
6. Experience in servicing industrial label printers at customers' locations.
7. Competency in staging new mobile devices for customer sites.
8. Workshop repairs completed within specified SLA timeframes.
9. Undertake new installations when required.
10. Knowledge of barcode label printing software – Bartender, Nice Label.
11. Understanding of application software – Velocity for Android / Terminal Emulator.
12. Complete all required documentation accurately and legibly.
13. Responsible for good housekeeping and safety practices.
14. A person who can work on his / her own with minimum supervision.
15. Technical minded.

Requirements :

1. Matric, grade 12
2. Fluency in the English language
3. Valid Driver’s License
4. A+ certification or Diploma in Information Technology
5. Minimum of 2 / 3 years' experience in hardware repairs up to board level, specifically on the following devices :
6. Vehicle mount computers : Honeywell VM1
7. Industrial thermal transfer label printers : Honeywell PM43, Zebra ZT410
8. Optional : Line printers / Dot matrix printers, Card printers
9. Proficiency and experience in 2.4 and 5 GHz networks
10. Must be a team player
11. Self-motivated
12. A second language would be advantageous
13. Enthusiasm in carrying out his / her duties
14. Experience in handling customers in all situations
