Job description

TRS has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Project Lead: Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This role will be responsible for defining and leading the technical aspects of projects across various stages, including interfacing with internal stakeholders, engineering consultants, technology providers, suppliers, and contractors in the renewable energy sector. Join our international client's team based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Job Duties and Responsibilities include:

1. Development of utility-scale energy projects and participation in government and corporate tenders.
2. Demonstrate experience and engineering expertise in Battery Energy Storage Systems within the power generation sector.
3. Drafting and negotiating owner techno-commercial specifications, incorporating the latest group experience and technical guidelines.

Qualification and Skills Requirements:

• Relevant Engineering degree, Technical diploma, or equivalent.
• Registered Professional Engineer with ECSA.
• Additional relevant qualifications are advantageous.
• Experience in power generation technologies.
• Experience with various project types and structures (greenfield, brownfield, acquisitions, divestments, project finance, equity finance, PPAs).
• Knowledge of energy market players and industry practices is advantageous.
• Ability to scope conceptual BESS layouts, configurations, and work packages.
