Technical Product Owner

One of the world’s leading withholding tax recovery companies is looking for a Technical Product Owner to join its growing technology team.

With 35 wholly owned offices across Europe, Asia, Africa, and America and a team of over 500 specialists, the organization focuses on assisting global clients with cross-border tax reclaims. Operating in the indirect tax industry for over 18 years, the company serves a wide range of institutional clients including banks, mining houses, and telecom and industrial businesses. Position Summary
We’re seeking a dynamic, energetic, innovative, strategic, and self-motivated individual to join the Johannesburg office. The ideal candidate will have a solid work ethic, work well under deadlines, collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders, and adhere to departmental and corporate policies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Take lead of scrum teams, defining product vision, roadmap, and growth opportunities while communicating with stakeholders throughout the project.
2. Work with internal and external contacts to analyze needs and align product roadmap with strategic goals.
3. Serve as the product ambassador internally and externally—providing knowledge, answering questions, and conducting demos, training sessions, and presentations.
4. Research feature requirements and technical specifications while managing the UX/UI process.
5. Conceptualize, develop, and take ownership of components of the technology product roadmap (e.g., Salesforce, Microservices).
6. Assess, manage, and prioritize the product backlog (using Jira).
7. Translate business requirements into a technical agenda for development and production deployment.
8. Manage internal and external development teams to ensure delivery of quality functionality on time.
9. Report on progress, risks, and bottlenecks to the technology steering committee.
10. Actively remove roadblocks to help the team meet sprint and release goals.
11. Run proofs of concept to demonstrate new tools or technologies.
12. Lead design sessions to evaluate technical solutions to business challenges.
13. Promote an Agile culture focused on continuous and rapid delivery of value.
14. Design and implement test plans and participate in user acceptance testing (UAT).
15. Support deployed functionality and ensure smooth handovers to business teams.
16. Facilitate daily standups and manage sprint planning sessions.
17. Develop detailed product specifications that are clearly understood by development teams.
18. Prioritize epics, stories, and themes in line with the overall product strategy.
19. Assist in the rollout of new features and coordinate with various business and tech units.
20. Stay informed on emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies that could benefit the business.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a related field—or equivalent experience
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability in business process design and analysis
• Ability to present the “big picture” and recommend improvements
• Experience in designing or re-engineering business processes
• Scrum/Agile training and practical experience (advantageous)
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, SaaS products, or low-code platforms (advantageous)
• Working knowledge of IT systems, databases, and integration patterns (advantageous)
• Experience configuring CRM/ERP systems—Salesforce experience is a strong plus
