Job description

Our Johannesburg branch has a vacancy for a suitably qualified person in the Procurement department.

Main Purpose

The role involves purchasing all equipment for various sites as required per contract, ensuring the best delivery, price, and quality. The buyer is responsible for managing the entire buying process, including administration of documentation, procedure adaptation, and daily generation and tracking of purchase orders, primarily for the construction side of the business.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Expedite supplier onboarding onto Syspro / SAP, facilitate documentation completion, and verify data.
  2. Obtain quotations and submit purchase orders in response to requests.
  3. Prepare adjudication sheets with recommendations for large orders, and obtain material pricing for the Proposals department.
  4. Expedite purchases, arrange collections, and manage alternative deliveries as needed. Reconcile queries with creditors.
  5. Maintain documentation both in hard and soft copies according to company procedures.
  6. Check pricing on BOQ and respond to client emails.
  7. Verify BBBEE ALT levels (levels 1 and 2) and maintain good relations with suppliers.
Qualifications and Experience

Matric, preferably with a post-technical diploma in Electrical and/or Instrumentation. Construction procurement experience in electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation fields. SAP knowledge is an advantage.

Special Requirements
  • A valid legal driving license.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, including formal presentations.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • A sense of urgency and strong customer service orientation.
  • Willingness to travel, including overnight stays.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings for procurement take-offs.
Working Conditions

Office-based environment. May require work beyond normal hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Participation in ongoing educational programs is expected.
