Job summary

Technical Lead - Environmental Consulting - Cape Town supports senior leadership across environmental assessment, ecology, compliance and sustainable design. You will turn strategy into delivery, develop our people and systems, and oversee Environmental Services while guiding the wider portfolio.

Lead complex technical decisions, ensure quality and defensible advice, coach practitioners, and coordinate delivery with clients and regulators.

Qualifications

• You hold a relevant degree and SA registration (EAPASA) with substantial SA environmental consulting experience.
• Proven ability to lead senior teams and oversee multiple projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication for client and regulator interactions.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex technical decisions and oversight of deliverables.

Environmental consulting and technical leadership

Cape Town |Permanent full time | Reporting to the CEO

Leading South African Environmental agency is looking for an experienced environmental professional who enjoys leading people, solving difficult technical problems and taking responsibility for work that matters.

We work across environmental assessment, ecology, environmental compliance and sustainable design. Our North Star is to be the firm clients and regulators trust when the stakes are high, and that our peers recognise as a benchmark for professional practice.

The opportunity

This senior leadership appointment carries delegated technical authority across assigned hubs. Working directly with our Founder and CEO, you will turn strategy into delivery and develop our people and systems. Your initial hands-on focus will be Environmental Services, alongside oversight across the wider assigned portfolio.

• Lead complex technical decisions, review important deliverables and ensure our advice is defensible and practical.
• Build effective quality assurance, coordinate delivery across teams and address risks early.
• Coach practitioners, strengthen team leaders and create greater consistency across our work.
• Work closely with clients, regulators and commercial colleagues, and implement new programs approved by the CEO.

Who will thrive here

You bring a relevant degree, EAPASA registration and substantial South African environmental consulting experience, typically 10 years or more, with proven team leadership and oversight of multiple projects. You are confident in NEMA and EIA processes, specialist integration and technical review. Experience in renewable energy, ecology or environmental compliance will strengthen your application. You exercise sound judgement, write clearly and turn findings into advice clients can use. You take ownership, seek input when needed and follow through.
