We a road hot asphalting, tarring and civil company based in Verulam and the greater Durban region. The following vacancy is available to persons who meet the below requirements. This is a on-site position for a individual who can work in a heavy industrialized environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Technical Procurement Buyer

1. Procurement and Sourcing

Identify and evaluate suppliers of technical materials, components, and services.

Request and analyze quotations, proposals, and bids.

Conduct supplier comparisons based on quality, cost, lead time, and reliability.

Develop and maintain relationships with key vendors and manufacturers.

Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms of delivery.

Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to delivery, quality, or compliance.

3. Technical Evaluation

Work closely with Engineering or Maintenance teams to understand technical specifications and requirements.

Interpret technical drawings and documentation to ensure accurate procurement.

Ensure purchased items meet required standards and certifications.

4. Order Management

Prepare and issue purchase orders (POs) in accordance with company policies and systems.

Track and expedite orders to meet project or operational timelines.

Handle documentation, invoicing, and delivery confirmations.

5. Cost and Inventory Control

Monitor procurement budgets and seek cost-saving opportunities.

Ensure optimal stock levels to avoid overstocking or stockouts.

Support inventory audits and forecast procurement needs based on usage trends.

6. Compliance and Reporting

Ensure procurement activities comply with internal controls and external regulations.

Maintain accurate records of purchases, supplier communications, and contracts.

Generate reports on procurement metrics, cost savings, and supplier performance.

Participate in process improvement initiatives.

please note- this is a workshop environment for heavy moving machinery and equipment. The successful incumbent will be required to undergo a medical test and be required to work in a industrial environment.
