Job summary

CFW Fans (Pty) Ltd in South Africa seeks a technically minded Technical Buyer to secure mechanical, electrical and fabrication components, ensuring quality, price and on-time delivery to support production and projects.

The ideal candidate understands engineering drawings and BOMs, can negotiate effectively, maintain Sage X3 data, and work cross-functionally with Engineering, Production and Quality to optimise procurement performance.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric required.
• Diploma, certificate or relevant qualification in Procurement, Supply Chain, Purchasing or related field.
• 3–5 years' purchasing/buying experience in manufacturing or engineering.
• Experience using Sage X3 in procurement, purchasing, inventory or manufacturing.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications.
• Strong negotiation and supplier evaluation skills.

Responsibilities

• Technical Procurement: review requisitions, BOMs, drawings and specs before procurement.
• Source and purchase mechanical, electrical, fabrication components; manage suppliers.
• Negotiate commercial terms and evaluate quotations for cost savings.
• Maintain Sage X3 data; ensure accurate codes, descriptions, pricing and delivery dates.
• Monitor POs, update delivery dates and resolve ERP discrepancies.
• Quality & Compliance: ensure materials meet specs and obtain compliance certificates.
