Technical Assistant (Fibre)

Applications are invited for the Technical Assistant position to be based in Louis Trichardt.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: The Technical Assistant's main duty will be assisting with installations, troubleshooting, and maintaining all fibre optic and wireless systems.

Key Performance Areas:

1. Site Survey: Assist with signal scans and throughput tests to High site.
2. Assist with taking photos of location for CPE bracket, cable run, plug, PoE, and router locations.
3. Callout Repairs: Tidy and clean up after job completion.
4. Assist with site inspection for possible future problems, i.e. trees in the way.
5. Take photos.
6. Mount brackets and cable hooks as required and indicated by Senior Technician.
7. Install cable runs as indicated by Senior Technician.
8. CPE Recovery: Remove relevant equipment and clean-up.
9. Vehicle: Ensure all tools and equipment are neatly organized inside the vehicle.
10. Ensure daily stock is loaded and backup stock levels are maintained in the vehicle.
11. Ensure that the vehicle is stocked with all necessary consumables needed.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Good working knowledge of hand and power tools used in this position.
2. Must have basic computer skills.
3. Self-disciplined, motivated, and organized.
4. Must be a team player.
5. Must be presentable, reliable, and punctual.
6. Ability to understand and follow instructions.
7. Must be medically fit and follow all Health and Safety procedures.
8. Ability to work in all weather conditions, confined spaces, and isolation.
9. Must be able and willing to work at heights and under pressure.
10. Must be able to work independently and in a team.
11. Willingness to work overtime.
12. Previous experience in a similar work environment is advantageous.
13. Have a good understanding of equipment used for installations.
14. Able to follow and prioritize tasks according to instructions given by the Install team.
15. Must show pride in work ethic and company property.
16. Efficient time management.

Education Requirements: Grade 12. Any specialized certifications or training would be an added advantage.
