Qualified artisan with an electrical trade test certificate. N6 technical diploma in electrical engineering from a technical college or a National Diploma from a Technikon. Registration with the Department of Labour as an installation electrician/wireman's license. Registration as a master installation electrician will be an added advantage. An electrical foreman certificate and experience as an electrical foreman will also be advantageous.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will assume full electrical responsibility throughout the factory during all production periods and planned maintenance on respective plants/lines. They will support the production team on electrical engineering issues, consult with section engineers and technical assistants on maintenance, CAPEX, and other engineering matters, and assist the electrical engineer with bulk power supply services, electrical maintenance, projects, breakdowns, compliance, and energy initiatives. The role involves ensuring efficient plant operation through regular inspections, planning, and scheduling of electrical maintenance. The candidate will also manage a team of electricians daily.

Responsibilities

  • Manage staff, ensuring proper training, performance management, and attendance tracking.
  • Take full electrical responsibility during all production periods and maintenance.
  • Support production teams and section engineers on electrical issues.
  • Assist in maintenance, CAPEX, projects, breakdowns, compliance, and energy initiatives.
  • Ensure efficient plant operation via inspections, planning, and scheduling of electrical maintenance.
  • Manage and support electricians in daily operations, root cause analysis, and breakdown analysis.
  • Plan and assign daily electrical maintenance tasks.
  • Monitor and minimize repetitive breakdowns through engineering solutions.
  • Participate in performance improvement projects, cost savings, and energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Contribute to plant efficiency through inspections, monitoring, and analysis.
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping and control activities.
  • Identify opportunities for energy and water saving.
  • Implement and maintain TPM processes, including spare parts management and maintenance scheduling.
  • Provide multidisciplinary support to ensure equipment availability and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections and address defects.
  • Participate in production review and scheduling meetings.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Electrician trade test/red seal certification.
  • N6 technical diploma in electrical engineering or a National Diploma with over three years of experience.
  • At least two years’ experience as an electrical foreman or supervisor in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, preferably FMCG.
  • Registration as an installation electrician/wireman’s license; master installation electrician registration is an advantage.
  • Electrical foreman certificate is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure, good communication skills, and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with good knowledge of AMM, Kronos, and SAP.
