Position: Technical Assistant / Electrical Supervisor

Location: East London

Type: Full-time

Closing date: 03 June

Qualifications:

• Qualified artisan with an electrical trade test certificate.
• N6 technical diploma in electrical engineering from a technical college or a National Diploma from a Technikon.
• Registration with the Department of Labour as an installation electrician / wireman's license.
• Registration as a master installation electrician is an advantage.
• Electrical foreman certificate and experience as an electrical foreman are advantageous.

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will assume full electrical responsibility throughout the factory during all production periods and planned maintenance on respective plants/lines. They will support the production team on electrical engineering issues, consult with section engineers and technical assistants on maintenance and engineering-related issues, and support electrical engineering projects, breakdowns, compliance, and energy initiatives. Managing a team of electricians daily is required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage staff, ensuring training, performance management, and attendance are maintained.
2. Ensure efficient operation of the plant through regular inspections and scheduled electrical maintenance.
3. Manage bulk power supply, electrical maintenance, projects, breakdowns, compliance, and energy initiatives.
4. Lead, support, and participate in performance improvement projects, cost savings, and energy efficiency initiatives.
5. Conduct regular inspections, monitor line efficiencies, and investigate energy and water saving opportunities.
6. Implement and maintain TPM processes, manage spare parts inventory, and generate maintenance checklists.
7. Support production during all periods to ensure equipment availability and performance.
8. Participate in daily and weekly production meetings.

Requirements:

• Electrical trade test / Red Seal.
• N6 technical diploma in electrical engineering or National Diploma, with more than five years' experience.
• At least two years' experience as an electrical foreman or supervisor in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, preferably FMCG.
• HV or MV certification is required for managing site distribution.
• Registration as an installation electrician / wireman, and ideally as a master electrician.
• Proficient in MS Office, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of AMM, Kronos, and SAP is beneficial.
