Job summary

Samaha Consulting in Johannesburg is seeking an experienced Technical Analyst (SAP + Data) to bridge business users and the data engineering ecosystem. You will diagnose data quality issues from SAP and lead discovery sessions with Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, and Operations.

A strong SQL and SAP background, plus experience with data reconciliation, data quality monitoring, and translating complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders, are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, finance, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience with SAP ECC/S4HANA data modules.
• Strong SQL and data analysis skills; experience with data reconciliation and data quality monitoring.
• Excellent communication; ability to translate technical concepts for business audiences.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison between business users and the data engineering ecosystem.
• Lead discovery sessions with Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, and Operations.
• Translate ambiguous business complaints into clear, reproducible technical problem statements.
• Communicate status, root cause, and resolution to business in non-technical language.
• Perform hands-on root cause analysis of data discrepancies across SAP source tables.
• Trace individual records back to SAP source documents to pinpoint divergence points.
• Write and optimize SQL scripts to profile, reconcile, and compare datasets across layers.
• Analyze SAP data structures, posting logic, reversals, currency/unit conversions, and archiving behavior.
• Build and maintain reconciliation checks and data-quality rules to proactively detect discrepancies.
• Foster relationships that encourage early issue reporting and collaboration with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

The *Technical Analyst (SAP + Data)* will act as the primary liaison between business users and the data engineering ecosystem, diagnosing and resolving data quality issues originating from SAP systems. You will lead discovery sessions with Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, and Operations, translate business concerns into precise technical problem statements, and communicate findings in clear, non‑technical language. Leveraging strong SQL and SAP expertise, you will perform root‑cause analysis, develop reconciliation checks, and implement data‑quality rules to proactively prevent future discrepancies. • Proven ability to manage stakeholder expectations and deliver timely updates.
• Familiarity with data visualization/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, SAP BW) is a plus.
