As our Technical Accounting Specialist, you’ll play a key part in owning the Group’s accounting policies and providing IFRS technical guidance to ensure accurate, compliant, and consistent financial reporting across the organisation. Your drive and ideas will help us move faster, improve smarter, and stay ahead of the game.
What You’ll Do
Group Accounting Policy & Governance
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the Group Accounting Policy Manual
- Establish clear, practical accounting guidance for business units
- Ensure alignment between policy, IFRS requirements, and business application
- Drive consistent application of accounting policies across all entities
Technical Accounting Advisory
- Act as the subject matter expert on IFRS and complex accounting matters
- Prepare technical accounting papers and position memos
- Support business units in applying appropriate accounting treatments
Financial Reporting Compliance
- Ensure the Group’s consolidated financial results are technically compliant with IFRS
- Review financial statements and disclosures for technical accuracy
- Support the preparation of annual and interim financial reports
- Identify and mitigate technical accounting risks
New Standards & IFRS Implementation
- Monitor new and amended accounting standards
- Assess their impact on the Group and support implementation
- Translate IFRS updates into actionable internal guidance
- Assist with training finance teams on new requirements
Audit & Risk Management
- Support engagement with external auditors on technical accounting matters
- Provide robust technical documentation and analysisContribute to reducing audit findings and technical reporting risks
- Strengthen governance and internal controls over financial reporting
Stakeholder Support
- Partner with operational finance, tax, treasury, and legal teams
- Provide clear, practical guidance on complex transactions
- Drive understanding and consistent application of accounting treatments
Training & Communication
- Conduct workshops and training sessions on accounting policies
- Develop quick-reference guides and FAQs for policy users
- Ensure policies are accessible and understandable to non-technical users

What You’ll Bring
- CA(SA) or equivalent accounting qualification
- 5-7 years experience in technical accounting or policy writing
- Strong understanding of IFRS and regulatory frameworks
- Experience in drafting accounting manuals or technical memos
- Experience working with external auditors and managing audit processes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
- Excellent technical writing and presentation skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities, maintaining effectiveness in dynamic situations
- Experience working collaboratively in cross‑functional teams, with a focus on achieving shared goals
- Expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a track record of delivering on time and within scope
Desirable Skills You’ve Got Up Your Sleeve
- In-depth knowledge of sports betting markets, including odds calculation, betting types and market trends
- Previous experience in the online gaming or casino industry, with a strong understanding of player behaviour and industry regulations
- Familiarity with gambling regulations and compliance requirements in various jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to legal standards
- Experience in developing and executing customer retention strategies
- Familiarity with SOX Compliance, or compliance within a listed environment
- Hands‑on experience with business and financial software preferred
